The Women of Westend…

A stroll through Frankfurt’s Westend is a chance to make many interesting discoveries, and I always find women’s biographies in particular fascinating. This walking tour focuses on well-known and less-known women, who lived and worked here in the 19th and 20th centuries. Some championed women’s rights, and some remain important benefactors to Frankfurt even today. Examples include the writer Gertrud Rössler, the women’s rights activist Bertha Pappenheim, the musician Clara Schumann, a former member of the Cäcilienchor choir Clara Louise Dondorf, and Landgravine Anna of Hesse.

The tour takes place in the southern part of Westend.
