Glorious times \u2013 a new beginning during the imperial period!<\/h1>\n

Frankfurt wouldn’t be the city it is today without the Imperial period. On this entertaining tour, we’ll take a stroll through Frankfurt as it was between 1871 and 1914. The small metropolis on the Main River experienced a massive economic and social boom under Prussian rule. An incredible construction boom raged, and many buildings still bear witness to the cityscape that was created.<\/span><\/p>\n

Frankfurt’s citizens fully embraced theater and concerts and were captivated by the new “temples of consumption,” the department stores\u2014a fashion arriving from Paris. How wealthy were people? How important was the new “miracle energy”, electricity, in daily life? And what beauty tricks were all the rage at the time? I’ll also share insights into Frankfurt’s school system, the emancipation of women, and little-known facts about Frankfurt’s businesses.<\/p>\n

Let’s immerse ourselves in the spirit of life in Frankfurt during the Belle \u00c9poque!<\/p>\n

The walk begins in front of the Alte Oper (Old Opera House) and ends at the legendary Frankfurter Hof hotel.<\/p>\n

This tour was co-designed by historian Grete Otto, who recounts the lives of citizens during the Belle \u00c9poque on her website www.buergerleben.com<\/a>. Upon request, you can purchase Grete Otto’s “Journal for Modern Women” at the end of the tour, or of course by ordering it in advance. This book contains further entertaining information about bourgeois life during the Belle \u00c9poque and was written and designed by her with great attention to detail.<\/p>\n<\/div>
